When I started my crochet habit building journey, I tried everything.
First, a cup of beads. I'd move one bead over after every crochet session. But this wasn't portable and was quickly claimed by my then 3 year old when he discovered it.
Then a color-in habit tracker I made myself. Pretty, but it took more effort to create each month than it saved.
Then a water-tracking app, repurposed. Easier, but disconnected from my actual projects — I still needed a separate journal just to remember where I'd left off.
What I actually needed was something small enough to survive my real life: one anchor point, one minimum viable habit, and as little friction as possible between deciding to crochet and actually doing it.
So I built it.
A way to track my crochet daily, snap a photo of my progress, and jot a note — all in one place, on my phone. No journals to lose. No tools to gather. Just the next stitch.
Now the friction is gone. I crochet every day — even when my son is awake, which might be the best part of all. He asks questions, wants to learn, and sits next to me coloring while I crochet.
We both make beautiful things, he says.
That's the part I keep coming back to. Not the streak. Not the output. Just the proof, every day, that I showed up for myself.

FAQs
You've got questions - here are the answers
How long does tracking take?
Less than 30 seconds once the app loads. You can also add notes about your progress or upload a photo of your project, yarn, or hook — optional features that help you pick up right where you left off next time.
How often can I use the tracker?
As many times a day as you'd like. There's no limit, and no pressure to track more than once.
Do I need to crochet every day?
No. The goal is momentum, not perfection. Even a few sessions a week can help you make steady progress and finish more projects.
What if I am new to crochet?
Welcome — I'm so glad you're here! The Daily Stitch Library has beginner videos that walk you through holding your hook, holding your yarn, making a slipknot, and all the basic stitches. If you have questions along the way, I'd love to help.
Is The Daily Stitch a mobile app?
Yes. It works on your phone or computer, so you can track your session wherever you pick up your project.
How do the Monthly and Yearly Prize Drawings work?
Once a year, we award prizes to members of The Daily Stitch community. Every day you track a crochet session earns you an entry, and completing monthly challenges earns bonus entries. Winners are chosen at random and announced once a year. It's a fun bonus — but the real reward is the habit you're building and the projects piling up to prove it.
What if I don't win a prize?
The drawing rewards consistent participation, so the more you track, the better your odds. But prizes are just a bonus. The real win is the habit itself — and the proof, in your tracker and your project pile, that you showed up.
